Sweet and sour Meatballs

emmajane These sweet and sour meatballs are easy to make.

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the mince, egg, breadcrumbs and onion. Mix thoroughly and shape into golf ball-sized balls.
  2. In a large frying pan over medium heat, gently brown the meatballs and set aside.
  3. In a large saucepan, combine the brown sugar, flour, water, white vinegar and soy sauce. Mix thoroughly. Add meatballs and bring to the boil. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring often, for 30 minutes.

  • 4 tablespoons dried breadcrumbs
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 220g dark brown soft sugar
  • 3 tablespoons plain flour
  • 350ml water
  • 4 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
